Spring Scents

Finally, it’s what the Fashion World has been waiting for, this year’s most-anticipated fragrance McQueen Parfum by Alexander McQueen has hit our stores. With a hefty £285 price tag you can definitely expect amazing things…

A lot of blood, sweat and tears have gone into Sarah Burton’s new venture. It took 3 years to develop both the scent and the bottle so you can understand the anticipation.

Alexander McQueen was one of the very few luxury brands without an existing perfume business (they previously had two which were discontinued in 2003 and 2005) and the fashion house is expecting big things from this release.

A scent for night owls (perfect for me), it is made up of a concoction of flowers that bloom at night; Sambac Jasmine, Tuberose and Ylang Ylang. It is dark and has a gothic element which is just so reminiscent of McQueen. Hence the social media hashtag #bloomatnight.

Even the bottle is an absolute beauty, with it’s MAJOR ‘shelf’ appeal, Burton put a lot of research into the design.  The craftsmanship and attention to detail required to make the antique gold feathers on the bottle has never been seen before in the industry. Burton wanted create the fragrance as if she were making a dress, with all the artistry involved in perfume making.

Accompanied with a stunning campaign, Sarah Burton’s debut fragrance for Alexander McQueen is a dead cert for success. Luckily for me (and probably a large number of other McQueen fans) a lower-priced eau de parfum is set to launch this summer and I can’t wait!

Perfumes that I wear…

Chanel N°5 by Chanel

My absolute favourite Perfume, partly because I absolutely love Chanel and partly due to the fragrance being just perfect. No5 is the very essence of femininity, the iconic bottle is home to a floral and timeless fragrance. I save this for evenings and special occasions, only because I couldn’t bear to run out of it and I wouldn’t know what to do if I couldn’t afford to buy another bottle!

Jimmy Choo by Jimmy Choo

My everyday go to Perfume. I adore all of Jimmy Choos shoes and handbags so why not wear their perfume?! A substitute perhaps, until I can afford the shoes and bags! The fragrance is inspired by modern women, a strong but feminine scent that’s perfect for any occasion.

Happy Reading!
